This building forms an extension to the old library, and is intended
to house all information technologies to serve as a knowledge center
storing bibliographical, audiovisual materials and electronic information.
It is equipped with all facilities and functions required in the
present and is capable of incorporating future development in the
field of information technology. To achieve these goals, this library
provides stacks for 600,000 volumes, space for 3000 seats, lecture
and exhibition halls and seminar rooms, administration, data processing
and technical services. The architectural character presents a unique
formal statement, and it employs local themes and materials reinterpreted
using modern technology.
